How to Send Memorial Material
Sending Memorial Material
We understand that sending your loved one’s ashes or other memorial material can be emotional and difficult. Opening an urn or cutting a piece of clothing may feel like you’re disrupting their peace.
If you’re struggling with that, pause and imagine what your loved one might say if you asked their opinion. Picture how they saw you — with compassion, with love. And above all, take your time.
We’re here when you're ready.
What Materials We Accept
We work with a variety of memorial materials, including but not limited to:
-
Cremation ashes (human or pet)
-
Sand or soil from meaningful places
-
Dried flowers or petals
-
Fabric from clothing or blankets or baby hats
-
Hair or fur
-
Stones or rocks from special places
-
Dried breast milk
Only 1 teaspoon per item is needed, and we will return any unused material.
Collection Kit Option (U.S. Only)
You only need one kit per order, even if you're purchasing multiple items.
The only time you'd need more than one kit is if you're sending materials from two different locations — for example, if Mom’s ashes are in Washington and Dad’s are in Florida.
Our $25 Collection Kit includes:
-
A small plastic bag for your material
-
A disposable wooden spoon
-
A second outer bag for safety with bubble wrap
-
A prepaid addressed return mailer
-
Easy instructions
-
Peace of mind (if kit is lost in the mail either way, we will send you a new kit at no extra charge)
Instructions for the Kit:
-
Place 1 teaspoon of material in the small plastic bag.
-
Double-bag it and clearly write your name on the outer bag.
-
Bubble wrap the bags for extra safety and place in cotton bag.
-
Package it in the included prepaid mailer.
-
Drop it in your home mailbox, any blue USPS dropbox, or take it to the post office.
Note: The kit is available only within the U.S. due to my inability to purchase return shipping labels outside of the USA.
Mailing Without the Kit
If you’re sending memorial materials without a kit, please mail to:

Important Notes:
-
Always include tracking when sending memorial materials.
-
USPS is our preferred method of receiving materials.
-
USPS may charge a $35 to $45 fee for sending cremation ashes.
-
For international orders: Please label customs forms as "memorial ash for keepsake". This prevents delays and ensures smooth customs processing.
-
Package the material in a small, sturdy plastic bag, and clearly label it with the name of the person who placed the order.
-
Do not send more than 1 teaspoon per item of materials or ship in a container you want returned — we may need to charge for return postage if it exceeds our free shipping weight and size limits.
Our Pledge of Respect & Dignity
Every material you send is handled with deep care. Whether it’s ashes, fabric, sand, or hair — we understand the meaning behind it and will respect it as if it were our own.
We encourage you to share a photo or a story about your loved one or pet. We love knowing who we’re honoring.
When your materials arrive:
-
They’re stored with your order information in a labeled, sealed envelope until we begin your piece.
-
We work on one item at a time to avoid any mix-ups.
-
Once complete, we return any unused materials with your order.
We do not take your trust lightly. It’s a sacred responsibility, and we’re honored to carry it.
